Hotel Particulier in Palazzo Morando

rom the 6th to the 22nd October 2016, Elle Decor Italia will turn the Palazzo Morando in Milan into a sophisticated grand hotel. For those of your unaware, the Palazzo Morando houses a museum on the city of Milan, as well as a permanent fashion and textile collection.

Here, designers Piero Lissoni and Patricia Urquiola were especially chosen for their extensive experience in the hotel business. Both designers have worked to a common theme: interior design inspired by the corporate environment, also a reference point for home décor.

We haven’t managed to keep our curiosity at bay and we have gone hunting for new décor ideas. We found the same feel of a French bespoke hotel, a luxury eighteenth century residence with a slight British vibe. In fact, in the Grand Hotel, traditional aesthetics and modern style are brought together with elegant pieces by Lema, while iconic furniture dialogues its historic surroundings.

In the Accueil (entrance lobby), a large lamp, effectively a wall of light, frames a large table: the mood is evocative and dramatic and tells visitors they are in a timeless aristocratic nest, where past and present blend seamlessly together. The Séjour (lounge) has a similar feel. It was designed by Piero Lisson to look like a real living room (inspiration comes from traditional bourgeois drawing rooms). Here, the ultra-modern coffee table in bronzed metal by Christophe Pillet is paired up with a print of the Benedictine Monastery of San Nicolò Arena (XVI century).

Step by step private and public rooms come to life like a luxury boutique. Plus, a game of interactive installations takes us to a fantasy lands filled with sensations and emotions.

“An aristocratic hostel” to quote Piero Lissoni himself. This exhibition is inspired by different ways of living, plus it uses Patricia Urquiola’s poetic touch to highlight intimate and private moments. In fact, all the bedrooms have her distinct style. Here, she was inspired by ‘Stanzas in Meditation’ (1929), a collection of poems by Gertrude Stein.

For lone travellers, couples, families or small groups of friends, the Hotel Particulier is open to everyone.
