Molteni&Co and Dada land in Madrid

COVER: Dada, cucina Vela

Tonight, June 18th, Molteni&Co and Dada celebrate the launch of their new Madrid store. This event is sponsored by Particia Urquiola: she has designed a number of pieces for Molteni, most of which will be on show. This is something you definitely can’t miss if you are in Madrid: the space opens at 7.30 pm and is located in the Salamanca district, one of the most prestigious areas in the city.

This prime location is a spacious loft, which used to be a warehouse. At the end of a long corridor, guests arrive at a large double-heighted open space. We can tell the atmosphere is sleek and elegant, however with that retro feel typical of warehouse conversions. In fact, most original architectural details have been kept; like the exposed beams with built-in overhead lights, which highlight the brand’s products. For instance, take the Glove chair by Patricia Urquiola: high-tech frame, padding and supported by a lightweight metal structure. What are we exactly talking about? Unconventional seating, which refences the old loft, yet brought together with sleek pieces for a modern twist.

Thare a number of projects on show, bringing past and present together; all this for a cozy and timeless space. This vibe goes beyond Urquiola’s designs. In fact, you will also find that the Vela kitchen by Dada has been given a new lease on life by Dante Bonuccelli, while still retaining its iconic design. There are collections by Rodolfo Dordoni and Hannes Wettstein studio, which reinterpret last year’s sofas. There is also the unconventional Segreto storage by Ron Gilad, a wall-mounted shelf with a triangular section, which can be turned into a small office space with a writing desk and space for filing documents. What’s more, beds with a dreamy flair, designed by Ron Gilad.

And of course, there is also a space set aside for kitchens and other designs by Armani for Dada: the aesthetic is formal, but charming nonetheless, like in every other corner of the store. The night is bound to be cozy and refined….
