he history of Alias began in 1979 when three young Lombard entrepreneurs, Enrico Baleri, Carlo Forcolini and Francesco Forcolini, founded a manufacturing business specialized in furniture and objects for the home together with the designer Giandomenico Belotti – the brand’s creative leader and author of the celebrated Spaghetti Chair, which soon entered the permanent collection of MoMA in New York. From the first Alias products it distinguished itself for its stylistic lightness and an aesthetic that challenged the technological characteristics of materials. The biggest names in Italian and international design were called up to collaborate in the meticulous work of stripping away the constructive elements of its products. The numerous awards Alias has received, including two Compasso d’Oro ADI and in 2019 the German Brand Award, in addition to the many Honorable Mentions, have confirmed it as a reference point in Italian design throughout the world.
