appy birthday to Snow, the bestselling chair originally designed by Odo Fioravanti for Pedrali in 2008.
Snow is lightweight, colourful and made from UV-resistant polypropylene. This chair was designed by a young Odo Fioravanti, “the outsider” as he has often classed himself as and its thanks to Snow that Odo won first place at the Young&Design award for emerging young designers.
But what’s special about Snow? It’s the pieces clean design without a doubt, perfect for both inside at out, as well as its practical, space-saving silhouette as it’s stackable, lightweight and easy to clean. But it’s essentially the material used (as well as the technology) the reason why this object quickly gained international acclaim: in glass-fibre reinforced polypropylene, Snow is injection-moulded using special gas-air moulding technology.
So, the chair that results from this process is at the same time sturdy and lightweight, originally designed for the outdoors, yet so versatile you can used wherever you want. In fact, it wouldn’t be out of place in a child’s room as well, so it’s not a mere coincidence that Pedrali brought out a Jr version a few years later, in other worlds a scaled-down version of the standard Snow chair especially made for the little ones.
Unique and innovative in its simplicity, Snow’s success has never wavered, even ten years along the line.
