he iconic Cobra lamp designed in 1968 by Elio Martinelli for Martinelli Luce is a half century old. And to celebrate in great style, Martinelli Luce brings out 23 different looks by some of the most important designers around.
In the last few days, the designers who have collaborated with Martinelli Luce - including many long-time friends of Elio Martinelli - also came together at the Triennale di Milano to present their own interpretations of the Cobra lamp (23 versions and a further version lacquered in red): from Alessandro Mendini and Paola Navone to Mark Sadler and Karim Rashid, as Emiliana Martinelli said: “the participation was enthusiastic and unanimous”.
Cobra Texture is a momentous occasion to celebrate a lamp that was definitely ahead of its time and paved the way for the future. Cobra is going to be manufactured in a limited edition of only 30 numbered pieces, plus three unique designer versions.
