Dike by Maxalto, the bed that embraces us

COVER: Maxalto, Dike bed – design Antonio Citterio

The ideal bedroom must be enveloping, intimate, sophisticated and regal. In short, it must be as dreamy as this bed with its theatrical backdrop that turns the sleeping area into the perfect stage for rest and relaxation.

  • What it is Dike by Maxalto, the bed with an enveloping headboard.
  • What makes it special It has a large headboard like a theatrical backdrop which transforms the bed into a refined and enveloping nighttime stage. It creates the ideal intimate space for resting.
  • How it is made It is a bed with a large and theatrical headboard that is made up by two 2-meter x 125 cm panels that end with two mobile elements anchored by a full-height hinge. The upholstery comes in a special fabric with a visible texture that is inspired by the idea of a tapestry. The tall bed has a structure that can be upholstered with all of the brand’s fabrics.
  • Whose idea it is Antonio Citterio, the Italian designer and architect born in 1950.  In 2000 he founded a studio together with Patricia Viel that carries their names. Thanks to his slick and elegant international style, with a marked Italian character, he creates refined and timeless projects. His design is steeped in architecture as it favors functionality and spatiality.
  • We chose it because… Enveloping, regal, important and luxurious, it is the absolute highlight of the bedroom; and yet it is also able to discretely design the space because it has calibrated and rational lines that frame the sleeping area with sophisticated and enveloping intimacy.
