ariolina, the chair designed by Enzo Mari in 2002 for Magis, is turning 18. And once again, just like back then, it has moved and amazed us with its sleek and crisp line which is both contemporary and unexpected.
For the occasion, Mariolina has decided to change looks and abandon bright colors to present itself in the new Mariolina Mono version in total black or a pure-white summer outfit. The style still recalls that of the fifties, but the details are what give it new allure and elegance: the powder-coated steel tube legs are slimmer and more precise in section, while the polypropylene seat and backrest are attached to the structure without screws through a series of molded plastic ribs.
“The world wasn’t designed for the rich”, Mari once stated “because good design should be accessible to everyone.” Mariolina comes from this approach. It is a basic and practical chair that is light (it is easily moved easily thanks to the handle built-on on the backrest and is stackable up to 12 pieces), but it has been able to bring a breath of fresh air to the world of seating since its beginnings. In its simplicity it includes the timeless style and accessibility that makes its design timeless and elegant.
