"Hypernature": Hotel Senato rooftop, Milan - Italy (Arch. Gian Paolo Venier)

| Designbest editorial staff

ith summer approaching, the Senato Hotel in Milan has decided to go for a total new look. Overseen by talented local designer Gian Paolo Venier, each year the roof terrace of the Senato Hotel will be remodelled by a different designer, working under the project name Hypernature.

So each year, the hotel’s rooftop will receive a total make-over: summer 2017 has a Hellenic theme. In fact, this year’s mood is inspired by Greece and its dry wild landscape swept by the sea, namely Gian Paolo Venier’s favourite holiday destination. And this is exactly where Hypernature comes from: urban landscapes, greenery, cocoon-like chaises longues, furniture in teak, wicker and straw, green partitions and accents in black plastic.

But, please don’t expect to find the same old blue-and-white combo, in fact guests will be pleasantly surprised by a black-and-white colour palette. Sleek and elegant, the overall scheme adds a metropolitan twist to sunburned shades and contrasts created by the dazzling summer light. And the look is finished by frayed curtains, upholstery and lanterns; this adds an easy and fashion-forward vibe, a clear reference to the Quadrilatero della Moda (lit. fashion district) just across the road.

Without a doubt, the Senato Hotel is going to be the place to see and be seen at this summer, the ideal location for sipping a refreshing fruity cocktail. In fact, every inch has been carefully designed to indulge your wildest dreams, and just like at home, everything can be rearranged to suit. So, why don’t you toast summer by sipping a Senato spritz or one of the hotel’s delicious signature gin cocktails made by micro-distilleries.
