he Grand Hôtel-Dieu has always been a lively place. Founded as a hospital in the 12th century on an area of fifty-two thousand square meters overlooking the Rhône and the vivacious Place Bellecour, it has taken back up its old vocation of hospitality after a closure in 2010 and become a symbol of elegance and design.
With boutiques, apartments, offices, an international hotel and lots of green space, after reopening in 2018 the Grand Hôtel-Dieu has today become the new location for Lyonnaise social life which, while respecting its centuries-old architecture, offers the city a diverse program dedicated to culture, music, design and cuisine.
In the summer of 2021, there is l’Infiniment Estival, an event which will entertain a public of all ages with a rich program of special events all season long. For this occasion, the Grand Hôtel-Dieu wanted an exceptional partner by its side and so chose Magis, the all-Italian brand of contemporary design.
Culture, cinema, music and entertainment promise will provide the convivial moments; meanwhile, Magis will make sure everyone is comfortable indoors and outdoors. They have furnished each space with their most iconic pieces in a jubilant display of volumes and colors: red Spun chairs spread out over Cour Saint Martin where you can happily spin round and swing back and forth; the imposing and sinuous Folly bench, a sculptural conversation space and great place to relax at 3.6 meters long;
Voido rocking chairs scattered about that provide relaxing breaks as if they were mini-chaise longues; and pieces dedicated to the little ones which play with anthropomorphic forms and bold colors like Trioli and Dodo, both symbols of Magis’ playful and creative spirit and the perfect companions to this exciting and interesting event.
