Alessi, Sottsass Collection

aving reached the 100-year milestone, Alessi launched the special initiative the Alessi 100 Values Collection in April 2021. It is a unique project where every month for a year’s time they will take a new product out of the archives of the Italian Design Factory in Omegna, including never-before-produced pieces, studio experiments, and brand-new designer works. This seems like the perfect idea to us to pay homage to all mothers, not only today—on Mother’s Day—but starting from today, on a 12-month journey dedicated to design.

Check out the first release on the calendar: the Twergi Collection by Ettore Sottsass. It is colorful wood set that includes a corkscrew, a centerpiece, a salt and pepper grinder and kitchen jars. Joyous, iconic and practical, it seems like the perfect idea to make mom smile while she is at the stove. And the surprises don’t end here. Over the next months, Philippe Starck, Castiglioni, Mendini and Snohetta will also be ready to move and surprise us with joyfully unconventional pieces. Just as Alessi have been doing since 1921, when Giovanni Alessi, the grandfather of the current CEO Alberto Alessi, founded the family factory in a triumph of art, poetry and practicality.
