Kartell Eyewear: a completely new outlook on design

COVER: Kartell Eyewear Collection

Spring is finally here, and we would like to welcome it like Kartell with our eyes towards the sun. Kartell is making its debut in the world of eyewear this season as it presents its collection of glasses and sunglasses designed by four great designers.

Rodolfo Dordoni, Ferruccio Laviani, Piero Lissoni and Fabio Novembre are the designers of the new Design Collection (made up of 32 models) which together with the Main Collection includes over 100 different models. Many different materials have been used in perfect Kartell style, which this time has also experimented with bold pairings, special geometric effects, the overlaying of thicknesses, and volumes which recall the brand’s most beloved icons.

The main characteristic could not help but be transparency, the symbol of Kartell design. In the new color palettes, the design company is offering a soft look (in the main version) and more accentuated one (for the Design capsule) to this fashion accessory. Meanwhile, the many glossy or soft-touch finishes add that exclusive and personal touch to each of us.

Naturally, Kartell’s care for the environment gets reflected in the KartellBio frames, a sustainable acetate made from cotton and fine wood fibers, which falls within the goals of the manifesto “Kartell loves the planet”.

With an eye on trends, innovation and sustainability, “Kartell Eyewear is the first collection of its kind produced by Kartell, a new project which is the result of our ability to interpret creativity in various forms of design,” says Lorenza Luti, Marketing and Retail Director of Kartell. “It is another step forward for our creative division, which allows us to discover new horizons, but which is always in tune with our spirit and our identity.”

There are four lines in the Design Collection: Segmenti by Ferruccio Laviani, which has refined frames with a light and soft touch; Eyeliner by Piero Lissoni, which frames the eyes with a minimalist, light and colorful line; Shield and Like K by Fabio Novembre, which are inspired by the forms of the mirrors created by Anna Castelli Ferrieri; and finally, there is Loo-K by Rodolfo Dordoni, the rounded and sinuous collection with proposals for men and women.

Meanwhile, the Main Collection is made up of 68 styles in eyeglasses and sunglasses collections which experiment with forms, finishes, materials, and innovation with injection molding technology. There is the graphic design of Lamina with its unique fusion of two different shapes, the geometric overlaying of Showpiece, the “distorted” cube of Exube, the minimalist and pure design of Borderino, and the bold personality of the metal Spiedo series, which shows off the iconic red Kartell logo.

All that’s left to do is head to one of Kartell’s flagship stores or shops specialized in glasses and choose your own exclusive and new “point of view”.
