oothing, deep, elegant in its simplicity and certainly timeless: Pantone Color Institute has chosen blue for 2020. After the explosion of carefree happiness in 2019 (Living Coral, symbol of optimism and joy) now it is Classic Blue (Pantone 19-4052 Classic Blue) which dictates the new color trend with a sense of peace and tranquility where one would like to take refuge.
Classic Blue is an intense blue, recognizable but also discrete and reassuring. It’s one of those colors that you can never go wrong with. It can be used on small details, but also in the entire room. It allows us to instantly create the perfect refuge where we can curl up and feel good. But how can it be best used to bring out its benefits?
Classic Blue is a tonality you can always count on because it gives off peace and harmony. It works well with grayscales, whites, light wood (adding a touch of class) and you can also use it in place of black because its intense gradation restores depth, but with greater breath (so it doesn’t weigh the space down).
“A timeless and enduring blue hue, Pantone Classic Blue is elegant in its simplicity. Suggestive of the sky at dusk, the reassuring qualities of the thought-provoking color highlight our desire for a dependable and stable foundation” explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of Pantone Color Institute.
A reliable color that betrays no styles. However, if you are not sure about decorating your walls or floors, creating a hiding place, you can always opt for small details: a pillow, lamp, cabinet or armchair. With a touch of blue, the home will immediately become a “solid” place, where you can always feel safe and at ease.
