esign is an integral part of everyday life, yet it represents the excellence of the creative world as well. Drawing on this, on the 20th June, Castello Sforzesco became a stage for the Italian design industry. Here, ADI, the Association for Industrial Design, awarded the Compasso d’Oro to 16 different winners, awarding the Compasso D’Oro for an outstanding career to 11 different people as well.

Started in 1954 by the iconic architect Gio Ponti, the Compasso d’Oro is a coveted prize, one of the most prestigious design awards in the world to be precise. In fact, the Oscars of the design industry are awarded to the best on the Italian scene and this year, the award ceremony celebrates quarter of a century.

1200 products were preselected for the prize, of those 283 were scrutinized by an international jury and 16 were the final winners. Sports cars, domestic appliances, lamps, tables and 2.0 bills are on display in the Rocchetta Courtyard of the Castello Sforzesco until the 26th June. Awarded for their innovation, the winners were are shown beside the 56 honourable mentions as well as the 10 medals for merit of the Targa Giovani.
