ere, the view is breathtaking. This apartment is a holiday home in one of the most exclusive ski resorts in Switzerland. You can reach the slopes by foot, a spa is just around the corner, you can go cross-country skying and take extraordinary summer walks... All this, is just an hour and a half away from the owner's town house near Zurich. And it took only a second for our real estate consultant to realise that this was the ideal holiday apartment for his wife and himself. However, a little more time was needed to decide if we wanted to take on this considerable investment.
In the foregound, armchairs by Altorfer for Embru. Handwoven frame in PVC rope; this is a rendition of the iconic «Spaghetti» deckchair, extremely popular in the Seventies.
The owners are an active couple, full of life. They love sport and the great outdoors, but also enjoy comfort and the practicality of being close to town. And here, they have found the perfect balance. This is a new and extremely modern building, with top-quality finishes and where technology is at its best. In fact, even at this height, they have every modern-day comfort. And, even, if just for a weekend, they can come to the mountains and find a warm house, without having to shovel snow.
In time, our owner, a real estate consultant, has become a true interior design connoisseur. He wanted a clean-cut apartment, with simple and functional furnishings and without unnecessary objects. There is no reference to Swiss folklore and a few bold splashes of colour give to this interior the same holiday cheerfulness. The décor was his idea. It was designed in partnership with Feurer Design Möbel, the interior design store located near Zurich, to which he entrusted the furniture choice.
In the kitchen, a glass facade. Simple and clean furniture: Lim table by MDF, Eames chairs Vitra. The kitchen was made to measure by a local joiner.
Art enthusiast, our home owner has brought here some of the paintings of his collection. To his selection, chosen with care, he has combined various notes of bold colour available in the furniture, colourful chairs and side tables as if they were expressionist brush strokes in a minimalist ambience. To add warmth and to vaguely reference in a modern key the feel of an old-fashion mountain lodge, the partition walls in unstained larch which act as a counterweight to the concrete walls of the structural frame, exposed even in the interior, in keeping with the purist style of the building.
A five star apartment without any ostentation, but with every possible comfort: it's modern and simple, this was the original idea of the home owner and he was able to executed down to a tee. In this apartment romanticism is banned, with materials which mirror modern architecture and subtle and functional designer furniture, he was able to build a perfect home to enjoy weekends on the ski-slopes without hassle.
