Cersaie 2018: The Sound of Design (commercial set: Spa)

T

he Sound of Design - Italian Style Contract: this is the name of the collective exhibition promoted by Cersaie 2018, a must-see event that combines music and design in a continuous fusion. During the event’s fifth edition in fact, music forms the soundtrack of timeless design: the fair’s Pavillion n. 30 is transformed into a dance floor taken over by the best examples of Italian style and the world of office design too.

Music and design too are the result of a creative act, they are capable of awakening emotions and breaking down barriers: this is what prompted the two curators, Angelo Dall’Aglio and Davide Vercelli, who with this exhibition demonstrate that music and design adapt to changing the fashions and trends, becoming timeless as well as innovators.

The exhibition is composed by 10 stages, each with a different themed set design, soundtrack and especially chosen videos. The soundtrack takes us to the period between 1976 and 1983, an age of ferment in which different genres blend together such as rock-and-roll, disco, pop music, metal, electro, punk, reggae and hip hop. This vibrant explosion of creativity equally inundated the world of design: it’s no coincidence that the space is an elongated arena, in which different emotions are evoked at every angle and ceramic surfaces are displayed alongside bathroom furniture. A dance floor inspired by Studio 54 of New York takes centre stage with a booth from Radio Capital in its pride of place, partner of the event, that plays on air: different sounds and moods blend together and the exhibition transforms into a journey that involves all the senses.

Similarly to last year, the partnership with Bologna Design Week repeats itself and in the city centre a "portal" references the exhibition with a mini conceptual spa and a spectacular waterfall located inside the Quadrivio in Galleria Cavour, while the music videos selected in collaboration with Radio Capital take us, once again, to the mood of the '70s and '80s.

If you can’t attend why don’t you follow the event live on social media tuning into the programme Isola Social: the web&social live programme created by the magazine Il bagno Oggi e domani with a team of selected bloggers take us, from the 25th to the 29th September, to Angelo Dall'Aglio and Davide Vercelli’s unprecedented vision.
