he first retrospective on Constance Guisset, Anima, carte blanche à Constance Guisset, is at the Mudac (Museum of Contemporary Design and Applied Arts) in Lausanne, Switzerland from the 15th September 2016 until the 15th January 2017. By playing with two contrasting styles (cool colours and warm tones), Constance Guisset invites the audience to relax and take in different points of view.
With her poetic touch, Constance turns the museum ground floor into a sort of experimental laboratory. She connects with the audience through a skilful use of colour and the consequent absence of it, pastel tones, pure white, curved silhouettes and more pronounced shapes. Anima starts with a succession of pieces in neutral and cool tones. Visitors have to pass through this dreamy space to go another land, decorated in rainbow colours.
The display is clean, neat and also extremely evocative. Inspiration comes from symmetry, nature and Japanese minimalism; this results in a fantastical journey where furniture, objects and materials become expressive of real creativity. Furthermore, Constance captures visitors with her distinct sophistication, playfulness and poetic touch, showing the magical side of design.
