T

he IBM Studios in Piazza Gae Aulenti are getting ready to host the annual Christie’s “Leave DeSign” charity auction, which this year is entirely dedicated to design.

Founded with the goal of supporting the Robert F. Kennedy Foundation of Italy Onlus, an association which works in human and civil rights, this special sale will take place in two distinct moments: an early look on September 28-30 at Christie’s in via Clerici 5 in Milan (on appointment) to see what will be presented and the real auction on November 19 at IBM Studios.

Among the pieces which will be fought over, there are historical icons, prototypes and one-offs donated by nearly 30 of the sectors’ top companies (including Alessi, Living Divani, Martinelli Luce, Lema, Molteni & C, Oluce, Porro, Artemide, Calligaris, Cappellini, Cassina, Davide Groppi, Zanotta, Foscarini, Giorgetti, just to name a few).

“Over the last year RFK Human Rights Italia has been there for families in need and for teachers and students in teaching the values of the constitution and the current and future vision of active and responsible citizenship. This auction, thanks to the support of Gilda Bojardi and Interni magazine, the event’s media partner, will allow us to continue our work in order to build a new future as individuals, citizens and, as the master Gio Ponti said, inhabitants” said Stefano Lucchini, President of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Italia.

RFK Human Rights Italia maintains the legacy of Senator Kennedy in the field of human and civil rights and for around 15 years has worked beside teachers in Italian schools to cover subjects like stalking, domestic violence, the death penalty, bullyism, and cyberbullyism.

Presiding over the auction, there will be Kerry Kennedy, the seventh child of Robert Kennedy and President of the RFK Human Rights Association, which will use the collected funds for the Association’s programs, like Education on Human Rights in the new obligatory subject of Civics in Italian schools.

It is a unique occasion to contribute to an important didactic project and grab a piece of design among the proposals of the best brands. For those who would like to preview the pieces, it is possible to make an appointment from September 28-30, sending an email to giraldin@rfkitalia.org.
