fter the success at Milan Design Week, exhibition Fabric-Action is at the Festival di Spoleto from the 17th June to the 30th August 2017. Now in its 60th edition, the Festival di Spoleto is the cultural festival which takes place every year in the town of Spoleto, in the Umbria region, central Italy. This year, the festival focuses on hemp and its material qualities. In fact, each of the eleven projects on display uses hemp in a different way, anything from experimental design to pure innovation.
Fabric-Action is an experimental project started by the Regione Umbria and the Fondazione Politecnico, and set up by the Polifactory in partnership with the Museo della Canapa di Sant’Anatolia di Narco. And early in 2017, several designers, who include both established names and emerging talents, joined the project, and the main intent is to use to hemp to give life to extraordinary designs, which can be used in everyday life nonetheless.
Fabric-Action includes 8 innovative ideas and 3 special projects: musical instruments, pre-school toys, home accessories, home purification systems and culinary experiences, plus everything on display is sustainable and zero-energy. All exhibits are linked by the same underlying thread, Umbrian know-how, and rely on four cornerstones: craftsmanship, innovation, tradition and creativity.
What’s more, be sure to check the rest of the Festival di Spoleto out: the town of Spoleto will be filled with music, art, culture and performing arts, the perfect way to learn about Umbrian design and craftsmanship.
