nly a few days left to visit the I Maestri del Paesaggio in Bergamo, northwest Italy and now in its eighth edition. Once again, the city is brought to life by a series of seminars, workshops, shows, competitions and conferences, asserting itself as the international stage for landscape design.
The year’s main theme, Plant landscape has transformed piazza Vecchia into an extraordinary, suggestive garden. It’s definitely worth a visit, perhaps during the weekend: the traditional installation, by the Dutch plant designer Piet Oudolf, is a triumph of flowers and evergreens that evoke the past of this location and surround us in the atmosphere of times gone by, in which, as a matter of fact, the outdoor collections by Pedrali take centre stage. For the fifth consecutive year, Pedrali is a partner of this event sponsored by Arketipos.
Besides, there are many must-see events. The many events planned for this year in fact, include the opportunity to visit the courtyards and cloisters of the city of Bergamo Alta, generally closed to the public. Here too, the chairs, armchairs and tables by Pedrali decorate the most symbolic locations such “the square with the ancient washtub”, transformed for this occasion in the Garden Lounge – Pedrali all’Antico Lavatoio: a convivial garden designed by Lucia Nusiner, in which you should definitely take a break.
Last but not least, Il legno, dalla Natura alle Cose, held in the Sala delle Capriate in the Palazzo della Regione (again in Bergamo Alta), is another must-see event in which the main local firms address the topic of “the culture of wood”. This year, the architecture studio Basaglia Rota Nodari illustrates this material’s unique, beauty with the exhibition La straordinaria quotidianità del legno, on until the end of the event. So, I Maestri del Paesaggio is the perfect way to enjoy the last days of summer surrounded by the sweet scents and colours of nature, with an eye towards the world of design.
