nce again, Bergamo, northwest Italy, acts as a stage for Landscape Festival - I Maestri del Paesaggio that every year (this is the ninth edition) brings landscape design to the city.
Until the 22nd September 2019 in fact, Città Alta (the old town) is brought to life by a rich calendar of events, workshops, conferences, tastings, plays and exhibitions that focus on the natural world, in all of its glory. The main theme of the current edition, Pioneer Landscape aims to shine a light on spontaneous vegetation as well as the role that plants play as live, dynamic entities (it references the exhibition Broken Nature, recently concluded at the Triennale in Milan). In order to reproduce such a delicate, meaningful topic, Arketipos, the association that oversees the festival in conjunction with the city of Bergamo, has formed a partnership with Luciano Giubbilei, an Italian London-based landscape designer, who has transformed Piazza Vecchia in Bergamo Alta into a spectacular garden.
Landscape Festival includes many top players on the scene such as the firm Pedrali, the event’s sponsor, who has decorated the main public areas of the city. In Piazza Vecchia in fact, Pedrali has put on display the chairs and the armchairs Tribeca coupled with the Nolita tables. You only have to stroll around the Città Alta in fact, to catch a glimpse of evocative green corners, decorated with the brand’s pieces, from the Lavatoio redesigned by the project Green Lounge Pedrali to the Antico Lavatoio by Lucia Nusiner transformed into a convivial garden, from Piazza Pontida to the Hotel Cappello D'oro, from Piazza Rossa to the Borgo Palazzo district.
Lastly, the festival presents Legno dalla Natura alle Cose, an event that focuses on the culture of materials with the exhibition Mettere radici, il legno principio di un’economia sostenibile. So, an event not to be missed that analyses the work of landscape architects and the overall world of international landscape design.
