re you thinking of a romantic Paris getaway? If so, you can kill two birds with one stone, as the time is also right to splurge on design. In fact, celebrations for Magis’ 40 years in the business are already underway.
Celebrations centre around an incredibly stylish display in the Centre Pompidou boutique; this is a most creative and colourful way to illustrate, using images and video, the brand's history, as well as putting on display its latest collections.
A screen shows in rapid succession: Officina series in wrought iron by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Traffic soft furniture by Konstantin Grcic, Milà chair by Jaime Hayon and S.S.S.S. stool by Philippe Starck, whereas the popular Me Too series takes centre stage in its own window. Plus, the boutique has recently been remodelled and now includes a space especially designed for kids.
It goes without saying that anyone who sets foot inside will notice Magis’ typical festive, cheerful and ironic vibe; this is a dead giveaway of a brand which has played a crucial role in turning Italian design into a global reference point.
However, surprises don’t end here. In fact, in order to celebrate 40 years in the business, founding partner Eugenio Perazza has asked designer Konstantin Grcic to come up with his own version of the mule, the brand’s symbol. And the result was Ettore, a stylized mule in cast iron that embodies Magis’ tenacious and tireless spirit and without a doubt, it’ll be a real crowd pleaser.
