Milan Design Week: everyone at the Fuorisalone 2022 “Between Space and Time”

The dates – June 6-12, 2022 – are not the ones we are used to for the Salone del Mobile and Fuorisalone, which once took place in April. However, everything is set for another successful edition. Milan is once again the stage for the world of design and is celebrating 60 years of the Salone del Mobile with an edition of the Fuorisalone called “Between Space and Time”.

The June edition of the Fuorisalone is a chance to reflect on the changes taking place in the world, with an eye on a sustainable future. This is where the thematic choice of “Space” and “Time” comes from. These two profoundly interconnected dimensions are at the heart of the debate of our assessment of the impact we have on the planet and the choices towards safeguarding it.

There are lots of additions to this year’s edition, with the most important being the Fuorisalone Award: an award voted on by a technical committee and the public (with voting online at Fuorisalone.it) which celebrates the best contents and installations.

The winner of the Fuorisalone Award will receive both a physical award (a 3D print from digital artist Mauro Martino of a model created with data extrapolated from the platform Fuorisalone.it over the last two years) and an NFT where one can see the elaboration of the Fuorisalone data in detail.

THE MAIN DESIGN DISTRICTS ARE:

Brera Design District is the beating heart of the event with over 160 events including exhibitions, installations, collective works and new products.  The theme “Designing the present, choosing the future” will put 11 new openings on display, for a total of 165 Showrooms in the district (breradesigndistrict.it).

Tortona District with Tortona Rocks, BASE, Superstudio and Tortona Design Week will focus on all-encompassing sustainability through a series of cross-cutting programs and projects (tortona.rocks; base.milano.it; superdesignshow.com; tortonadesignweek.com).

Milano Durini Design is the new concept-district of the Associazione MDD which wants to promote the district in other parts of the year as well (milanodurinidesign.it).

5VIE Design Week has reached its 9th edition with the cross-disciplinary practices of design, collectibles and one-off pieces. This year’s common thread will present the city as a laboratory for the co-construction of a shared future and possible utopias (5vie.it).

Isola Design District hosts the sixth edition of Isola Design Festival with the theme “Together As One”. There are more than 250 designers and design studios alongside galleries and local craftspeople in over 30 locations (isola.design).
