n occasion of the Salone del Mobile 2018, Marazzi turned its Milan showroom into The Tile Club, a sophisticated, dramatic stage for displaying Grande 2018, the brand’s latest tile collection.
Don’t worry if you haven’t seen it yet (better hurry up, though): curated by Matteo Cibic and Studio Blanco and inspired by the famous London gentlemen’s clubs, the space is going to be open until June. Be prepared to travel to a refined world that combines elegance with architecture and art.
As soon as you step inside, the mood is the same velvety, retro feel of the most exclusive gentlemen’s clubs: a dusty colour palette, soft silhouettes and porcelain stoneware (seen everywhere from the bar-counter to the tables and floors) contribute in transforming the space completely.
Grande 2018, the brand’s latest tile series, takes centre stage: new sizes (160x320 and 162x324), new thickness (12 mm in addition to 6 mm), new finishes that reproduce the material quality of marble, concrete and metal. Alongside it, in perfect harmony, the Grand Carpet series designed by Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel that clads the walls of the Cafè and the Wunderkammer, two of the Club’s rooms. The quirky creatures from the Paradiso Dreams collection are scattered here and there, ceramic animals that with Matteo Cibic’s distinct ironic touch seem to come to life surrounded by Marazzi’s collections.
A lobby with a liveried porter, a central lounge area and a bistrot add the final touch to space of unquestionable charm (the original Tile Club was an artist collective started in New York in 1887, they made small works of art on ceramic tiles).
Different suggestions, inspirations and emotions are mixed in with ceramic decorations and the same feel of times gone by: the perfect place to have a coffee during a stroll in the centre of Milan.
