harles and Ray Eames: two exceptional designers. This inseparable couple devoted its entire life to the world of design, working ceaselessly to brake the constraints of conventional design.
Until the 14th February 2016, the Barbican Art Gallery in London will honour their life and career with a brand new exhibition: the world of Charles and Ray Eames. This is the first large exhibition, to pay tribute to the Eames, to be held in the United Kingdom.
On display in London: graphics, paintings, art installations, drawings and last but not least, many ground-breaking designs. This exhibition tells the story of their creativity, which, throughout the years, has touched many different fields from architecture to photography, from furniture design to film making.
The world of Charles and Ray Eames pays tribute to the career of these two designers, however it also shows a more intimate side, made of private letters, old photos and sketches. What’s more, the 380 works on display illustrate the extraordinary work carried out by the Eames Office; this was a real creative hub. In fact, since the fifties it has left its mark on the fields of architecture, graphic design and first and foremost, interior design.
