rtemide, a leading name in the field of lighting design, has recently opened a new showroom in the heart of Chicago, Illinois. Designed by the de Bevilacqua studio, this new space extends over an area of roughly 260 sqm, a stone’s throw away from the Merchandise Mart. What’s more, this regeneration project has been extremely successful in preserving the utilitarian style of the old factory.
Here, we have exposed brickwork, timber beams and large store fronts, which face directly onto West Hubbard Street. And naturally, inside the showroom we have a vast selection of pieces: from iconic lamps to the more innovative designs like Chlorophilia by Ross Lovegrove and Glass Tech by Carlotta de Bevilacqua.
Private homes, offices, retail spaces, urban environments and the outdoors; this is the world of Artemide. In the showroom, lamps are displayed in succession and can be found on the ground, mounted on the wall or hanged from the ceiling. And there’s definitely something magical about a space, where design, craftsmanship (you just need to remember the lampshades in hand-blown Venetian glass) and innovative technology come together. Moreover, Led lamps is the real key players, which Artemide reworks in an innovative and functional way.
And what’s the outcome: an “enlightened” experience, which you can either live directly in the showroom or, if you wish, take back home with you.
